On the night of October 18th, our family experienced a tragedy that changed our lives forever. During a family gathering in Bladensburg, Maryland, a car crashed into the celebration, taking one life and leaving 14 family members injured, including my sister Marleda and her 17-year-old daughter Alexis.
My name is Marquetta, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my sister, Marleda, and my niece, Alexis. My sister remains in the hospital recovering from serious injuries/surgeries, and Alexis, though now home, is still healing both physically and emotionally from the trauma of that night.
The funds raised will go directly toward:
• Medical expenses and long-term hospital care for Marleda, including treatments, therapy, and rehabilitation.
• Medical bills and recovery support for Alexis, including follow-up care, clothing, personal care, and essential necessities while her mother remains hospitalized.
• Household and temporary living expenses to help the family maintain stability during the recovery period.
All donations will be withdrawn by me, Marquetta, and personally delivered to my sister and niece to make sure the funds are used directly for their care, recovery, and essential needs during this difficult time.
Our family is heartbroken, but we are holding onto hope and strength through faith and community support. Any contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the burden and allow Marleda and Alexis to focus on healing.
Thank you so much for your compassion, generosity, and prayers.
With love and gratitude,
Marquetta
