Support for Mark Tennyson’s Cancer Battle

On May 31st Mark was admitted to Holmes Regional Medical Center with severe abdominal and back pain.

After CT and MRI scans, x-rays and ultrasounds, doctors discovered a lesion on his spine at L3. It was also discovered that Mark was in Acute Kidney Failure. He underwent a CT guided biopsy of the lesion on the spine, had a procedure to insert a temporary catheter for dialysis into his neck and completed consecutive rounds of dialysis.

It has been a long two weeks in the hospital trying to establish a diagnosis while Mark simultaneously fights to regain his kidney function. It wasn’t until a urologist requested a procedure to place stents in the kidneys that it was discovered Mark has Stage 4 High-Grade Urothelial Carcinoma of the bladder. Oncologists believe this is the source of the cancer that has metastasized to his spine.

He will need to continue his battle with chemotherapy & radiation at minimum; possibly surgery. A PET scan has been scheduled to detect any other areas of concern.

While he has a long road ahead of him, Mark is so incredibly blessed to have the most supportive community and family behind him. He is loved by all that know him. We now have to lean into that support and request your help.
