It is with profound sadness that we share the passing of Mark Serrano — a devoted husband, loving father, and dear friend to many. A native of San Francisco and proud CSU Sonoma alumnus, Mark was known for his generosity, kindness, and deep love for his family and friends. He brought warmth and thoughtfulness to every interaction and was a passionate sports fan who loved to celebrate life.
Mark had many hobbies, including his first love — baseball — followed closely by basketball. He was a big fan of the SF Giants and the Golden State Warriors and was forever a proud supporter of Balboa High School sports. Mark also enjoyed being a foodie, shopping for shoes and baseball caps, and above all, he was the number one fan of his daughters. He especially loved his daughter Jelena's soccer addiction. His joy was found in the everyday moments spent with his family, and his pride in them was boundless.
Mark bravely battled an aggressive form of cancer, overcoming it once and returning to work with determination and hope. Tragically, after a period of recovery, his cancer returned. Despite his strength and will, Mark passed away, leaving behind his cherished wife Jennifer and their two daughters, Xochitl (18) and Jelena (15).
Jennifer is now facing life as a single parent — grieving a tremendous loss while carrying the emotional and financial responsibilities of raising two daughters. The family is now burdened with not only the weight of their sorrow but also funeral costs, outstanding medical bills, and ongoing living expenses.
How Your Support Will Make a Difference
By coming together as a community, we can ease some of this burden for Jennifer, Xochitl, and Jelena. Every donation, no matter the size, will help:
• Cover funeral and medical expenses
• Support housing and daily living costs during this period of transition
• Provide for Xochitl and Jelena’s educational and personal needs as they move forward without their father’s support
• Give Jennifer the ability to grieve and care for her daughters without the immediate pressure of financial insecurity
Mark lived a life of generosity and love. Supporting his family in this time of need is one way we can honor his legacy and show them they are not alone.
Thank you for keeping Jennifer, Xochitl, and Jelena in your thoughts and for any support you can offer. Whether through a donation, a message of encouragement, or sharing this campaign with others — your kindness means more than words can express.
With heartfelt gratitude,
Dianna, on behalf of Jennifer and the girls.
