Support for Mark Post Double Lung Transplant

Hi there. My name is Sydnie Connors. I’m creating this GoFundMe on behalf of my father and mother in law, mark and Sherri connors.

As some of you may know, Mark was diagnosed with Ancavasculitis and interstitial lung disease in 2012. He has taken medications and treatments. The medications caused irreversible damage to his body as well, the interstitial lung disease progressed to pulmonary fibrosis. As a result, Mark underwent extensive testing to be listed for a double lung transplant in 2024. He was listed late November 2024 and almost exactly 1 month later received his new lungs on December 27th 2024.

While this has been an amazing gift from the donor, Mark has had some extensive complications post surgery including septic shock, acute kidney injury requiring dialysis, multiple infections and substantial loss of muscle tissue. He was intubated and sedated for two weeks and required a tracheostomy to be placed in order to removed the endotracheal tube, without further damage.l and complications. He has progressed well with the tracheotomy, but is still requiring a NJ tube for feedings. He is still inpatient at mass general and requires several more weeks of extensive rehab due to his deconditioned state.

Even with substantial preparation financially, the cost of medical care not covered by insurance, travel costs and living expenses have become overwhelming. We are asking for any kind of support. That support can come in the form of a like, share, kind words or donation. Any leftover donations will be used to support other families going needing resources in the form of gift cards, meal cards, stuffed animals for sick patients, etc.
