Hi guys, my name is Angelita and my brother’s name is Alonso Jr. Our family needs help burying Marilin Ramirez, an iconic woman, wife, and mother to two beautiful children. After a painful battle with breast cancer that metastasized to the rest of her body, Marilin passed onto the next life on May 23rd. Given that she chose to live out her last days in her native Venezuela, we didn’t get the chance to have a proper goodbye with our mom.

We’re trying our best to stay afloat in her absence. But given her funeral bill, the cost of living in NYC as immigrants without access to gainful employment, and unpaid time off from work, we’re falling behind on rent, utilities, and groceries while we recover from this loss and continue to support our dad who is disabled and unable to hold a job. As people close to me know, I’ve been doing my best to support my family while also making room for my own growth as a young trans Latina–though this has been one of the most devastating times of our lives.

Marilin was a courageous, fashionable, and self-made woman who adored her family and friends. Any and all support means the world to us. Gracias y bendiciones, thank you. <3
