Thank you all for visiting this GoFundMe page! This page is being created for Maria Braunskill and her family! For anyone that knows Maria, you know that she is one of the kindest, most selfless, toughest people you have ever met. A fighter in every single sense of the word. On Monday August 2, 2021 Maria was working as a nurse in the OR when she suffered a massive seizure. She does not remember the event and luckily, being in the hospital, was rushed to the ER where they performed a series of tests. On her imaging, they found a left temporal sarcoma and right frontal sarcoma in her brain. She was transferred to Virtua Our Lady of Lourdes and underwent neuro surgery to remove the tumors. Maria did well through her surgery and returned home Tuesday August 10, 2021.
Just for a little background, Maria has had sarcomas removed from her thigh and lung before, for which she did undergo radiation therapies. She has had no issues for 10 years, and believed she was in the clear. Her previous battles have prepared her for this undoubtedly bigger and tougher battle- but with all our love & support- this strong momma is all strength.
Maria is so happy to now be home with her amazing and supportive husband, two young beautiful daughters, and her pups! She does still have swelling on the brain which has resulted in motor loss to her left arm. Doctors are hoping that she will regain strength and mobility after swelling improves. Doctors also found a mass on her kidney which will need a biopsy and possible surgery which will take place when she is more neurologically stable.
Maria has always been the FIRST person to organize events for anyone in need. She has always been the first person with a hot meal on your steps in a time of need. She is that nurse that goes above and beyond in every way; to hold the hand of a scared patient, to sit bedside and explain scary procedures, to always listen when others need comfort. Maria’s work life has been dedicated to helping others. Her home life is centered around being the most amazing mother and loving wife. There aren’t enough ways to describe how giving and selfless Maria is. For all of these reasons, we felt creating a GoFundMe for Maria and her family would be most helpful to her while she is out of work and recovering. Any donation, large or small, will help her family during this time to minimize the burden of financial stress.
She has a long road ahead of her with radiation treatments. While she is feeling overwhelmed, she is truly optimistic and ready for the road to recovery. Let’s give back to someone who has always given so much. Thank you!!
