On January 20th, our lives changed in an instant when our mom, Maria Menchaca (known to many as Lupe), suffered an unexpected hemorrhagic stroke. Since that day, everything has been different.

Through it all, we are incredibly grateful to God that she is still with us. There were moments where we didn’t know what the outcome would be, and being able to bring her home is something we will never take for granted—especially when doctors initially believed that wouldn’t be possible.

Anyone who knows our mom knows she is a fighter. She has always been strong, positive, and full of life. Most importantly, she is a faithful and devoted Christian, and her faith continues to carry her through this journey. She is a loving mother and grandmother, and everything she has poured into our family is what now gives us the strength to care for her.

Caring for her at home has been a true blessing, but it also comes with many challenges. She now requires constant care, and as a family, we are doing everything we can. Learning day by day and supporting one another through this new reality.

With such a sudden and life-changing event, expenses have quickly added up. Between hospital bills, medications, medical equipment, physical therapy, and time taken off work to care for her, the financial burden has been overwhelming.

El 20 de enero, nuestras vidas cambiaron en un instante cuando nuestra mamá, Maria Menchaca (para muchos conocida como Lupe), sufrió un derrame cerebral hemorrágico inesperado. Desde ese día, todo ha sido diferente.

A pesar de todo, estamos profundamente agradecidos con Dios de que siga con nosotros. Hubo momentos en los que no sabíamos cuál sería el resultado, y poder tenerla en casa es algo que nunca vamos a dar por hecho, especialmente cuando los doctores inicialmente pensaron que no sería posible.

Quienes conocen a nuestra mamá saben que es una luchadora. Siempre ha sido fuerte, positiva y llena de vida. Sobre todo, es una mujer de fe, una cristiana devota, y su fe continúa sosteniéndola en este proceso. Es una madre y abuela amorosa, y todo lo que ha dado a nuestra familia es lo que ahora nos da la fuerza para cuidarla.

Cuidarla en casa ha sido una bendición, pero también trae muchos desafíos. Ahora requiere cuidado constante, y como familia estamos haciendo todo lo posible—aprendiendo día a día y apoyándonos en esta nueva realidad.

Con un cambio tan repentino, los gastos han aumentado rápidamente. Entre cuentas médicas, medicamentos, equipo médico, terapias y el tiempo que hemos tenido que dejar de trabajar para cuidarla, la carga financiera ha sido abrumadora.

No es fácil para nosotros compartir esto, pero humildemente estamos pidiendo ayuda. Cualquier apoyo, ya sea una donación, compartir esta página o mantener a nuestra familia en sus oraciones, significa más de lo que podemos expresar con palabras.
