My name is Erin, and I’m raising funds for my Great Aunt Margaret—also known as the “Little Ol’ Lady from Pasadena.” Right now, her body is shutting down at the young century age of 101 years old. She has been an instrumental part of keeping the family together and being the happiest person you have ever met.
When Margaret was younger, she was a caregiver aid, which she loved. It gave her the appreciation, love, and satisfaction in life to carry on forward. She was just missing someone to love her, so at 92 years young, she decided to get married to the love of her life, Neil. They have been inseparable and now married for almost 10 years until now.
This past week, her body started shutting down—like a switch, she stopped walking, had trouble breathing, did not want to eat or drink, and started sleeping a lot.
Her husband is having a difficult time accepting that he is losing her; he has told us that he cannot even see having a life without her. I mean, she is an amazing woman with the most infectious laugh. Not only was she a caregiver, she was also an actress up until the age of 98 years old, and driving a car until 99 years old. She had a few roles playing the pink Power Ranger’s grandmother, the grandmother in the FX series Baskets, and some smaller roles in commercials. This woman is wild and definitely earned the name, the “Little Ol’ Lady from Pasadena” with her feisty, fun-loving attitude and a strut that was very impressive—she could outwalk any of us up until she turned 100 years old. Being 100 years old or any age for her did not mean much—she was still so feisty, sharp, funny, loving, and quick with a quip. She just loves the attention—being the center of it, and especially the camera.
Her personality is what will be missed so much. She is just a joy to have around—silly, fun-loving, affectionate person with an unrelenting desire to help and give to others. This is part of the reason why we need this GoFundMe. Thinking about the future was not part of her plans, and now we are faced with planning her funeral arrangements and trying to find a companion plot for her and her soulmate to be buried together. Neil is still here in one piece, barely, and very much alive, but also did not plan for this inevitable future event and needs a lot of help with these arrangements. She also has continuous nursing right now in her final days to help with the care since he cannot do it himself. Emotionally, this is very taxing for all of us, especially her husband, and this would help alleviate some of the burden and costs that will continue to linger even after she dies.
Thank you for reading our story and helping us take care of our sweet Little Ol’ Lady from Pasadena, Great Aunt Margaret.
