As many of you may know, my sister Mara was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer back in August. Since then, she has faced a series of health challenges, including gallbladder and liver issues that have made her journey even more difficult. Mara has bravely undergone numerous chemotherapy sessions, multiple procedures, spent many days in and out of the hospital, and recently traveled to the Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN, for a procedure to have a stent put in. There have been countless emergency room visits and doctor appointments along the way. While I may not have all the medical terminology, what I do know is that Mara has shown incredible strength and courage throughout this fight.
Barry was diagnosed with prostate cancer in December of 2023. The cancer was surgically removed but over the past two years Barry has continued to deal with the after effects of surgery and has, himself, had several more surgeries, procedures, and visits to the ER.
Mara is a dedicated teacher at St. Joseph Catholic School in Baraboo and has tried to continue teaching whenever her health allows. Unfortunately, her ability to work has been limited, and her FMLA is running out. This will soon lead to financial strain on Mara, Barry, and Addy as they try to manage mounting medical bills and daily living expenses on a single income.
I am reaching out to our community for support during this challenging time. Any contribution—whether it’s love, prayers, or financial help—means the world to us. If you’re able, please consider sharing this fundraiser with others to help Mara and her family. Your kindness and generosity are deeply appreciated. Much love, Jeff
