I’ve never done a go fund me before and I know there are so many situations out there in need of help. My brother, Robert, and niece, Mandie, are one of those stories. My brother is a Vietnam veteran and he’s had struggles related to his time in that war along with other life challenges. Mandie was diagnosed with cancer when she was 4 years old (now 47). They had no health insurance at the time and she received substandard treatment. He lost his wife to breast cancer several years back and now he is a year into his battle with Alzheimer’s. My niece is his primary caregiver and due to her cancer journey and all the havoc that radiation wreaked on her body she is dealing with major health problems that are limiting her ability to work and be the caregiver that she wants to be. She recently had a major setback that has left her in a terrible situation physically, emotionally and financially. I am helping Robert enter assisted living and obtain Veteran benefits but these things are difficult to navigate and take time. Mandie needs help. She is facing a move and significant loss of the meager income she had with her job.

 

I am asking for anyone that is willing to help to consider giving to this family. My niece has always worked hard and done the best she could but she is realizing that she needs help. She needs affordable housing, a resource for her to move into this housing and catch up on the bills and debts that she is facing due to her efforts at providing for her dad. She’s never been married and has no children. I left her house last week reminded of the comforts I have and the importance of sharing what I have and I’m hopeful that with some funds and effort we can get her to a place that she can manage and improve her and my brother’s situation.
