The Gifford family’s story is full of strength, love and resilience. Derek Gifford, husband and father, had a stroke 7 years ago that lead to many medical complications. Being the financial backbone for his wife and 4 kids, the loss of his job and inability to work put financial strain on the family as a whole.

After battling many medical conditions Derek peacefully passed away in his sleep 1/6/26. He leaves behind the love of his life Magen Gifford, and his four kids Zach, Athena, Damien, and Gabriel.

Derek’s body has been donated to the UofU for science, and after he will be cremated.

With the loss of income from Derek, Magen is now facing financial hardship. The past 3 years Magen has served the role of being a full time Mother, Caretaker, and Provider all at the same time. She is strong, loving and kind, and is suffering a tremendous loss.

I’m asking for the help and love of our community to come together to help her ease some of the burden and help pay for memorial for Derek, and for funds to help her continue to pay her mortgage so that she can keep her home for her family.

Anything helps, and is much appreciated. All proceeds will go to Magen and her children.
