On Sunday, September 15, 2024, Jon and Rose Stonehouse welcomed their 6th child into this world. Beautiful Magdalena Mae was born around 7am weighing 8lbs 5oz, joining us 2 weeks before her October due date. Shortly after she was born, the medical team knew something was wrong - one of her tiny lungs was collapsed. They began treatment immediately. Less than 24 hours after Maggie's arrival, another much larger problem was discovered. She was not producing urine. Through testing, it was discovered that she has ADPKD (Autosomal Dominant Polycystic Kidney Disease). This now raised the questions: How? Why? How long will her kidneys work, if at all? How long until they remove them? When will she start dialysis? Will she be able to breathe on her own? Will she be able to breastfeed? How long will she live? We don’t know. So many questions. So much unknown. It’s a day to day life, it’s an hour by hour life.

The doctors say she may not live longer than a month. If she does, she will need dialysis and a kidney transplant.

This has all completely taken the Stonehouse family by shock and everyone is still trying to process that this event that has been so eagerly anticipated has now turned into the fight of their lives!
