What if the teacher who changed hundreds of young lives now needs our help to save his own? Hello, my name is Victor Perez, a hardworking father of two beautiful children here in Hemet California. My faith in God has carried me through every storm in life, and it is with that same deep trust in Him that I believe my brother will beat this cancer. Today I’m reaching out with a heavy but hopeful heart because my family desperately needs your support. My brother Luis Perez is a loving father of three young children—a 14-year-old boy, an 11-year-old girl, and a precious 3-year-old boy—who all depend on him completely. He has been a dedicated teacher at a low-cost public high school in Guadalajara (GDL), Mexico, for years. His students still talk about him constantly and ask “How is Maestro doing?” because he wasn’t just a teacher—he was the kind of educator every parent prays their child will have: passionate and energetic in every lesson, incredibly patient with students who struggled, inspiring and encouraging even the ones who had given up, always going the extra mile to make tough subjects fun and understandable, and a true role model who taught kindness, respect, and perseverance right alongside math or history. He touched so many young lives, and now those same students are heartbroken that he’s sick.

Recently he was diagnosed with cancer, and a specialist has told us he must receive specialized treatment in Ciudad de México (Mexico City) if he is going to have the best chance to fight and win this battle. Right now he is still in GDL, but the travel, housing, and medical costs in the capital are far more than our family can handle alone—especially since he can no longer work and his young children need to be cared for.

We are raising funds to cover his urgent medical treatment in Mexico City, transportation and temporary housing there, medications, and basic support for his wife and three little ones while he fights. Every single dollar will go directly to giving him the care he needs and keeping his family from falling apart.

Hola, mi nombre es Victor Perez, un padre trabajador de dos hermosos hijos aquí en Hemet California. Mi fe en Dios me ha llevado a través de cada tormenta en la vida, y es con esa misma profunda confianza en Él que creo que mi hermano vencerá este cáncer. Hoy me dirijo a ustedes con un corazón pesado pero lleno de esperanza, porque mi familia necesita desesperadamente su apoyo.

Mi hermano Luis Perez es un padre amoroso de tres niños pequeños: un niño de 14 años, una niña de 11 y un precioso niño de 3 años, que dependen completamente de él. Ha sido un maestro dedicado en una preparatoria pública de bajo costo en Guadalajara (GDL), México, durante años. Sus alumnos todavía hablan de él todo el tiempo y preguntan “¿Cómo está el Maestro?” porque no era solo un maestro, era el tipo de educador que todo padre reza para que su hijo tenga: apasionado y enérgico en cada clase, increíblemente paciente con los alumnos que batallaban, inspirador y motivador incluso con los que ya se habían rendido, siempre yendo más allá para hacer que las materias difíciles fueran divertidas y fáciles de entender, y un verdadero ejemplo que enseñaba amabilidad, respeto y perseverancia junto con matemáticas o historia. Tocó tantas vidas jóvenes, y ahora esos mismos alumnos tienen el corazón roto porque está enfermo.

Recientemente le diagnosticaron con cáncer, y un especialista nos dijo que debe recibir tratamiento especializado en Ciudad de México para tener la mejor oportunidad de luchar y ganar esta batalla. Por ahora sigue en GDL, pero los costos de traslado, hospedaje y atención médica en la capital son mucho más de lo que nuestra familia puede manejar sola, sobre todo porque ya no puede trabajar y sus hijos pequeños necesitan que los cuiden.

Estamos recaudando fondos para cubrir su tratamiento médico urgente en Ciudad de México, el transporte y hospedaje temporal allá, medicamentos y apoyo básico para su esposa y sus tres chiquillos mientras él pelea. Cada dólar irá directo a darle la atención que necesita y a que su familia no se desmorone.

Con la gracia de Dios y su bondad, sé que mi hermano —el hombre que dio tanto a sus alumnos— regresará a casa sano y seguirá cambiando vidas por muchos años más.
