Hi everyone, I am reaching out because our family is currently facing a significant medical crisis. My 8-year-old daughter, Madison Skye, was recently diagnosed with MOG encephalitis. This week, she was admitted to the hospital again after experiencing sudden vision loss and depth perception issues. This is her second hospital stay in less than a month. Madison is currently an inpatient at Penn State Health Milton S. Hershey Medical Center. She is undergoing intensive treatment, including high-dose IV steroids, to fight bilateral optic neuritis (swelling of the optic nerves). We are waiting and hoping to see her vision improve over the next few days.

While Madison is fighting this in the hospital, life at home for our other four children has to keep moving. I am currently balancing medical travel, making a 40-minute drive to the hospital and back twice every day to be with Madison while also caring for my other children. Managing the school schedules, meals, and daily needs of a household of five kids while one is hospitalized is a massive logistical challenge. I am also in the very final stages of my Home Health Aide (HHA) certification and need to complete my last few hours of training so I can provide for my family. The funds raised will go directly toward gas for travel, hospital meals, and basic household expenses to ensure my other children are cared for while I focus on Madison’s recovery and finishing my professional training.
