Support for Madeline's Family After Flood

My name is Madeline and I’m raising funds for my family in Wisconsin. You may have heard about the devastating flooding that happened last weekend in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. Unfortunately, my family was subjected to some of this devastation.

We arrived in WI Saturday for what was planned to be a few-day visit and to pick up my younger sister for her annual NY trip. Saturday evening, it started to torrentially downpour and did not stop until the next day. We awoke early in the morning to over 4 feet of water flooded in the basement and up the stairs to the main floor. In addition to the storm flooding, the septic backed up into the water and contributed to more flooding and damage. The basement housed not only all of my family's memorable items but also sentimental possessions such as my father’s art studio. More importantly, or perhaps the most impactful, a plumber has been over and declared the hot water heater and furnace are also a total and complete loss.

Homeowners insurance will not cover ANYTHING, and FEMA is also not available. My father just recently returned to work after being on medical leave. My stepmother is an elementary teacher working an additional 2 part-time jobs, all while supporting my younger sister who will be a senior this year. Adding this situation to their plate is not only mentally taxing but incredibly financially draining.
