Mabel Rose was born fighting from her first breath. Postnatally diagnosed with a congenital diaphragmatic hernia and severe hypoplastic left heart syndrome, with multiple other cardiac defects.
Since we had no idea of her medical challenges, she was born at a birthing center, emergently transferred to a local hospital, transferred to Nicklaus Children’s Miami, and finally UF Health Shands in Gainesville.
12/26/25 diaphragmatic hernia operation
1/24/26 medical transfer to UF Shands for transplant evaluation
2/3/26 placed on Berlin Heart
2/18/26 listed for heart transplant
8/5/26 Mabel Rose received her gift of life, her hero heart
There were unforeseen complications post-op that led to her being in emergency surgery, where she coded on the table and needed to be resuscitated until being placed on ECMO. (8/7/26)
The waters we navigate are tricky, and so complex.
But we can see the beautiful light at the end of the tunnel, taking our babygirl home for the first time ever.
We are preparing ourselves to take our daughter home, getting our ducks in a row and navigating being caregivers to our extremely medically complex babygirl.
We are asking for support in this time to ease our transition and settle into medical parenthood.
Thank you for your continued prayers and support. We also ask those who have followed our journey to pray for the heart donor family. Their act of humanity is the only reason our daughter gets a chance at life.
