Lyric, my friend’s daughter, has always been a bright and energetic spirit. In 2023, her world changed when she was involved in a serious motor vehicle accident that left her with multiple injuries, including a broken left arm and a brachial plexus injury. Despite ongoing pain, Lyric has shown remarkable strength and resilience. Over the past four months, her pain became severe and unrelenting, leading to numerous doctor visits and imaging studies. An MRI performed in October revealed a large mass, but the family was not informed of this finding until January 5th. That same day, Lyric was evaluated at Children’s Hospital, where they learned the mass is cancerous. The surgeon shared that it appeared consistent with a sarcoma, though the exact diagnosis will not be known until biopsy results are complete. Her oncology team has expressed concern about how rapidly the mass has grown, and she may begin chemotherapy and radiation as early as next week.

Before the accident, Lyric was spunky, energetic, and full of life. Now, she faces this diagnosis with incredible courage while navigating pain, fatigue, and uncertainty. The funds raised will help cover mounting medical bills, travel for treatment, child care for her siblings, and support for her parents as they miss work to care for her.
