Support for Lung Transplant Recovery

Life changed in November 2022 when I was diagnosed with Interstitial Lung Disease with Pulmonary Fibrosis. No cure available but meds used with hope of slowing progression. Life changed ….. oxygen was now needed, functionality declined as did quality of life. Completed about 8 months of medical tests and was referred to UCSF Lung Transplant Program for evaluation. UCSF completed their assessment and referred me for Lung Transplant. My name was added to the National Registry awaiting a donor organ.

Monday afternoon we got the call to get to the hospital; a potential donor, a potential chance for a continued life. On Tuesday morning 5/21/24, I received a Single Lung Transplant. Surgery was completed by the gifted UCSF Lung Transplant Team. Thank you to the donor and their family - I think of you daily and with every breath I take.

This fundraiser will pay for medical expenses, lodging, caregiver transportation and living expenses for 6 weeks post hospital discharge as we are required to live locally for frequent follow-up. Your support is cherished, thank you.
