****Update****
This is a little bit different of an update, but just as important....Because of Luke's prognosis and the long term nature of his journey to a new normal, the family felt they should start a FB page to better update those who want to know how Luke, Glory, and their family are doing day to day, week to week, month to month!!! They will be posting about the challenges and struggles he faces and how he is doing... but also Luke's fighting spirit, determination and humor...☺️ So for those interested that maybe havent found it yet, please jump over to Facebook and follow them...it's called "The Luke Update"....I know it will mean the world to them. Thank you all for blessing them the way you all have...it is helping them to focus where they need to... and that is Luke and his rehab and finding a new normal...so just thank you, thank you, thank you!!! We will continue to post here as well and will keep the gofundme going for them as long as donations keep coming in...❤️
Also, we will be hosting a benefit auction, supper, and live music on June 20th, starting at 3pm at the Old Bruno School, Bruno, AR. We have the flyer posted on the FB page, however if you want me to message you a copy, please just reach out to me and I'll send it to you...We cannot wait to show them once again how loved they are and help ease their burdens...
If you have any questions feel free to message me on Facebook and I'll help any way I can. Thank you on behalf of Luke and Glory and their family!!!
****Luke and Glory are overwhelmingly grateful, shocked, and in awe for the love and support that they continue to get from all of you!! Thank you for reading the updates, sharing the gofundme page, donating monetarily, praying, and even offering help on their house. Thank you to all of you!!!!

Update from Luke's sister....
Todays day nurse was nice, but in Isabelle’s shadow she was just professional and not to exciting. Luke texted demanding hot breakfast pretty early so Glory and I got busy cooking. PT ladies never showed up today.
Deborah stopped by early this morning and said an application is in to the Atlanta rehab for uninsured in case Luke’s Medicaid gets denied. She was cheery and loved Luke’s determined attitude. (And of course going 100mph)
Since PT wasn’t beating on the door, Luke decided he better start moving himself. With a bit of help he was able to swing his legs over the side and sit up for a bit. His chest/lungs bleed a fair bit after he’s active.
Daily X-rays, and check ups, pressure points and bed sores seem to be a common and challenging thing to keep ahead of since he can’t feel his hips, or heels getting sore from sitting or laying.
For all the food snobs out there we should start a food blog on hospital meals. It’s like Dino shaped chicken nuggets and chicken Alfredo or dumplings. And scrambled eggs that would probably kill a compost pile.
Thanks to all the people making things at home run!

Update from Luke's Sister...
Today’s nurse was Isabella and before that names conjures up visions of some soft spoken, kind hearted girly girl… let me tell you she wasn’t letting anything or anyone slip.
More like a “ Lieutenant Dan” drill Sargent in pink scrubs. She and the pair of PT ladies pushed and pushed hard. They insisted Luke start moving his body around and helped him transfer to a chair for an hour.
Took a lot of grit and determination but they all got through it and by evening Luke was properly wore out, but felt better for having been made to move around a bit more then his mashed ribs are comfortable with. They promised to return tomorrow and crack their whip harder.
Tonight’s nurse Benson is coal black and sounds like he comes straight from Africa with an accent so thick it’s hard to understand him.
Chris stayed with Luke tonight while Glory and Orry came to our house for some much needed solid rest.
Tomorrow’s goals include getting paper work pushed along and hopefully finding some answers to rehab and equipment availability. And insisting on some focused nutrition so his arms don’t feel so wimpy.
****May 4th Update****
Update from Luke's sister....
Sunday, Luke said he did not hit a tree. We weren't sure how this extreme damage was caused. Monday, he told us after he hit the hole and was airborne, he is quite sure he landed and the 4-wheeler came down on his back. There is a bar across the back, maybe 18" long that they use to load the bike, etc. He thinks that landed on him with the full force of the bike behind it. (400lb.) This explains why almost all doctors & nurses who have seen the x-ray all comment how bad it is, or it's the worst they have ever seen.
But with God, nothing is impossible!
On Monday, the nurses got him to sit up in bed with his legs hanging off the bed. He was pretty dizzy & terribly weak, but was determined to sit up as long as he could. I find it amazing how such a strong healthy guy can go down so low so fast. Later Monday, he was again very, very tired. He seldom opens his eyes. Eating is an effort. (Milk was the first thing he wanted to drink on Sunday, & milk from Bridgette & Alan's cows was there for him.
Today, Tuesday, they put him in a chair for awhile. There is still a tube in each lung, draining blood, etc. He was coughing up blood, etc. today. (He also has 5 broken ribs.) When his lungs stop draining, he will be discharged, either to Baptist Rehab if financing is available, or home if it is not. We understand that rehab is very valuable in teaching him and his family how to operate in this new normal, & what to expect. We pray that he will be able to go there for a week or two.
****Update****
After Luke's surgery yesterday it was confirmed that his spinal cord was severed. They have fused the vertebrae above and below the severed spinal cord. He will remain in the hospital and then go to rehabilitation to process his new life in a wheel chair. This is of course devastating news for him and his precious family, so please continue in prayers for Luke, Glory, their children, and the extended family. And please, give as you are able as their home will have repairs to be made, therapies for months and years to come and just to help with the financial burden until they can find a new normal!!! If anyone would like to send cards/checks please send me a message or one of the sisters or brothers and we will get it to them. Thank you all for the love and support you have shown them this far....please, please keep it coming!!!
Yesterday, May 2, 2026, Luke (Red Rider) a devoted husband to Glory, a loving father to four precious kids, and a dear friend to so many was in an accident during a competitive quad race. Luke was thrown from his ATV and struck a tree. He was life-flighted to a hospital in Little Rock, where doctors discovered a severe spinal cord injury that left him without feeling from the waist down. After a three-hour emergency surgery, the prognosis is uncertain, and doctors have said that without a miracle, it is unlikely Luke will regain the use of his legs.
We are deeply grateful that Luke is awake and surrounded by his wife and family at the hospital. However, this accident has brought an overwhelming financial burden. Luke has always been the sole provider for his family, while Glory has cared for their children at home. The medical bills, ongoing care, and the need to adapt to a new way of life will be a tremendous challenge for them.
We are reaching out to our community for support. Any help—whether through prayers, monetary donations, meals, or other practical assistance—will be a blessing and a comfort to Luke and his family as they face the long road to recovery. Your kindness and generosity can help ease their burden and bring hope during this difficult time. Thank you for your continued prayers and support for Luke and his loved ones.
"Be strong and courageous. Do not fear or be in dread of them, for it is the Lord your God who goes with you. He will not leave you or forsake you" Deuteronomy 31:6
