My name is Yvonne, and I’m asking for help as my family and I grieve the loss of my brother, Luis Martinez, who passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on January 15, 2025.

Luis was the kind of person who made others feel safe, seen, and cared for. He was loving, gentle, and thoughtful…someone who showed his heart through the way he treated people. Even while facing so much in his final days, Luis was still thinking about others. One of the last things he worked on was building a dog house for his beloved dog, a small but powerful reminder of who he was: caring, hardworking, and full of love until the very end.

This loss has been incredibly painful, and on top of the heartbreak, I’m now facing the unexpected financial burden that comes with funeral and memorial arrangements. I am retired, and sadly, Luis did not have life insurance. The costs for cremation, funeral home services, transportation, and other necessary arrangements add up quickly, and our family is doing everything we can to give Luis the respectful farewell he deserves.

That’s why I’m asking for help.
