Support for Luis Castillo’s Spinal Tumor Surgery
Luis is in a very tough spot and needs our help.
For the past 3 months he’s had excruciating back pain and eventually went in to get an MRI to see what was going on. Sadly, he found out that he has a tumour in his spinal cord and will need surgery to have it removed. He doesn’t have any insurance in Canada, so the cost of the surgery will have to be covered by himself. The cost of the surgery is about $18,000 and he has absolutely no way to afford this. He has been such a huge part of the volleyball community here in Calgary and I wanted to reach out and see if any of you would like to help him in any way.
Here is a little background on Luis. He is a profesional beach volleyball player from La Romana, Dominican Republic. He comes from very Humble beginnings. He competed on the NORCECA Tour from 2013-2018 and had some incredible results. He then came to Calgary for an opportunity to coach and play beach volleyball in Alberta. He played in the ONE League in 2019 for the SVR Stallions, and was a part of The Dome Defenders NBVL team. He has helped coach many athletes here in Calgary at SAVC as well as the Volleydome.
He is one of the most kind hearted, generous, hard working people I know who never ask anyone for help.
He didn’t want help with this, but he will not be able to do this urgent surgery without our help.
Anything you donate would help him a ton.
