Hello dear friends and fellow cat lovers,
as many of you know Lalita, one of my beloved lucky kitten sisters, who had been dealing with health issues for about two years, was diagnosed with kidney insufficiency about two weeks ago.
Unfortunately this came after a series of wrong diagnostic trails and the emergency treatments could only alleviate her suffering during her last days but not save her life. So, with tremendous sadness, love and gratitude for her companionship and love, the last thing I could do was to help her pass across the rainbow bridge and be released from suffering.
What's more, one of my remaining fur babies, her sister Lakshmi was also hit really hard by this loss and I spent the following week fighting for her not to follow her dear sister quite so soon.
During several emergency vet visits she received a diagnosis of thyroid hypertension, an enlarged heart (likely caused by the thyroid), some water retention in her lungs caused by the heart, and possibly also a kidney insufficiency. All of these things (especially the heart) were only minimally or even non-symptomatic before and must have been severely worsened by her grief over her sister's death.
Unfortunately in the meantime since I started this crowdfunding dear Lakshmi's heart condition turned out to be more severe than initially diagnosed and despite everything I tried her condition continued getting worse rather rapidly. So with even more immense sadness all that remained for me to support her in the end was to help ease her transition so she could follow her beloved sister only 10 days later.
This series of unfortunate events has not only been extremely sad, stressful and exhausting, but also way beyond my own financial means and I could only pay for it so far due to private loans and some donations from dear and generous friends & family and some of the vet bills are still unpaid.
I am currently self-employed without benefits and with the prospect of possibly needing to close my business in a few months due to lack of income. I have also been dealing with recovering from Long Covid for the past three years as well as other chronic health issues for the past seven years and often not even been able to pay the extra expenses for my own needed health care.
Lalita's emergency treatments, euthanasia and cremation added up to almost 900€, Lakshmi's veterinary care, euthanasia and cremation even to more than 1600€, which made up about 2500€ core emergency costs in total for both of them.
In addition to that I had ~300€ of additional emergency expenses like complementary medication & special diet food - although most of that couldn't be used anymore because both of them didn't survive long enough, I still couldn' return those things either.
I also still have an outstanding debt of ~ 650€ with one of my vets for previous treatments that I haven't been able to pay off yet due to my limited resources.
I am already ever so grateful for all the support, financial as well as emotional and spiritual that I have received from wonderful people in my life during this incredibly difficult time.
The money from this crowdfunding will be used to pay off the remaining vet debts and additional emergency costs and for paying back the private loans I have received by friends and family these past weeks. If more is being raised, I will use it for upcoming expenses for my last remaining senior kitten Nepheli's soon needed veterinary health care.
