*UPDATE 03/18/26
Lucca is just completing his first full week of rehab at the Shepherd Center in Atlanta. He has a great medical team and has already made some small, but exciting progress in occupational, physical, and speech therapy cheered on by his family. Even while away from Maine, the family is thinking about the many needs required to safely bring him home. They are exploring a wheelchair accessible van and modifications to their home to add a downstairs bedroom and bathroom. The family remains hopeful and grateful for your support on this journey.
We are at the next big step in Lucca’s journey to recovery. Through prayers and much hands-on support Lucca has improved to be able to transfer to a rehabilitation hospital and we hope to travel early next week. While he is still considered minimally conscious, he is getting physically stronger each day and responding more consistently to commands. Now, we are faced with the big challenge of how to bring Lucca home in a way that allows for his success as he continues to recover. We have discussed the needs with a medical case manager who told to us to plan for modifications that need to be made to our home including a wheelchair accessible downstairs bedroom, what transportation for him may look like in the future, and we are working with a lawyer to set up a special needs medical trust. We are grateful for the many prayers being said, words of encouragement shared, donations made, and acts of kindness during this life transition for our family. We hope one day to see Lucca back in the trees, playing his cello, and flashing that smile that brings joy to so many.
———————————-
Lucca is a very close family friend who has always been a source of strength and kindness to those around him. Recently, he was involved in a massive car accident and is now on full life support. This has been an incredibly difficult time for everyone who loves him, and his family is doing everything they can to stay by his side and support his recovery.
The funds raised through this campaign will go directly toward helping Lucca and his family with urgent needs. Medical bills are mounting, and there are ongoing expenses for food, accommodations, and transportation as his loved ones travel to be with him. Every contribution, no matter the size, will help ease the burden and allow his family to focus on what matters most—being there for Lucca as he fights to recover.
We want to extend a big thank you to everyone who is able to support Lucca during this time. He is a strong Christian man whose love for God shines through in all he does. Your prayers, kindness, and generosity mean the world to his family and friends. Please consider helping in any way you can, and know that your support is making a real difference. Thank you for your continued prayers!
“For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.” (Romans 8:38-39)
