My dad, Roy, is 88 years old and was forced to retire last year due to declining health, including giving up his driver’s license and independence. Shortly after, our family faced another devastating challenge—on February 5th, my mom, Louisa, suffered an ischemic stroke that has left her unable to speak and without movement on her right side.
Because of this, we had to suddenly close her home daycare, which had been an important source of income for my parents. She is currently in a skilled nursing facility receiving rehabilitation, and her condition requires ongoing, life-sustaining care. Three times a week, she must be transported to dialysis for her kidney disease—an expense that is not covered by Medicare. At this time, she has not yet been approved for Medi-Cal, which would help relieve some of this burden.
With only limited Social Security and no additional income, my parents are facing overwhelming financial strain during an already heartbreaking time. We are doing everything we can as a family, but we cannot do it alone.
If you are able to give, no matter the amount, it would mean more to us than we can express. And if you’re not in a position to donate, we would deeply appreciate your prayers, shares, and support.
Thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for keeping our family in your thoughts and prayers. God bless you.
