Hello. This is a fundraiser for the health of Lorna Wachera, the daughter of Mary Wachera (https://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=61573481288470), a friend of mine from Kenya on Facebook. (Her account got hacked several times.)

Lorna has been diagnosed with cystic fibrosis, a disease that attacks the lungs, and she needs treatment such as oxygen to aid her breathing.

Unfortunately, her family cannot afford to pay for the treatment, so I've made this fundraiser on their behalf in the hopes that they get the help they need.

Update 6/8/2026: A lot has happened since the last time I updated the description, so let me start by clarifying a few things to note.

First of all, her account was deleted a couple times, but she made a new account to communicate again, and hopefully it stays.

Secondly, (I've already said this in an update, but I should also mention it here) I apologize for the lack of photos in the updates and the cover photo. So, you see, we could not provide as many photos as we wanted due to these restrictions. In addition, failure to follow this will result in job loss and possibly other punishments.

We were lucky enough to at least get the photo for the cover, but it was done in secret.

Another reason is personal privacy. The Kenyan population has a large number of people using the internet, and there are many criminals abound there. What do you think would happen if their location and faces were shown online (especially Lorna)? This is why Lorna's mother preferred to not show her daughter's face.

I understand the concern with lack of transparency, but unfortunately, our hands are tied when it comes to pictures.

What I can give to you is a contact to someone who works closely with Lorna and her family.

One more thing. There are three ways you can help us with the gofundme:

1. Simply sharing the gofundme with other people. The more people that this gofundme is exposed to, the better Lorna's chances.

2. Donating to this gofundme. Even $1 is helpful.

3. Prayer. I ask of you to pray for them that they get the help they need.

***Update: 11/21/25: This section has long been outdated. We have gone through several emergencies on her life throughout the 3.5 months this fundraiser has been going, and the treatment plans her doctors have made are expensive to the point that 12800 is no longer the threshold goal. It has long since increased since this point.

With her recovery taking longer time, the goal for this fundraiser may increase depending on the circumstances and how well we can respond and help her through her plight.
