I am starting this GoFundMe on behalf of my mother, Lori, who is facing an incredibly difficult chapter in her life. A few years ago, Lori’s husband Glenn—my stepdad—suffered a medical complication from a doctor’s misdiagnosis that led to half of his foot being amputated. After that, Glenn became bedridden and unable to work, so my mom became his full-time caregiver. Last year, Lori was let go from her job, which made their financial situation even more challenging, as they were solely living off Glenn’s disability checks.

Glenn endured constant pain after his first amputation, and eventually returned to the hospital, where doctors discovered an infection on his other foot. This led to another amputation, this time below the knee. While recovering in the hospital, Glenn suffered two strokes, which left him incapacitated and, heartbreakingly, led to his passing shortly after. My mother, now jobless and a widow, is struggling to find the funds to pay rent and cover the medical expenses left from Glenn’s hospital stay. My brother Cody and I have been helping as much as we can, lending money for rent and paying for Glenn’s cremation, but we can only do so much.

Lori is still grieving the loss of her husband while trying to keep it together and afford basic expenses. She is in great physical and emotional pain, unable to find work, and barely holding on. Funds from this GoFundMe will help her cover medical expenses, rent, and urgent needs, and ultimately help her get back on her feet while she copes with Glenn’s recent death.
