In late September of 2019, Logan suffered severe hand injuries while volunteering as a role-player at the Direct Action Resource Center. Logan has been a part of the DARC community since 2016 and has never missed a class or an opportunity to volunteer and always gone beyond what is required to help at DARC. The Direct Action Resource Center is one of the leading training resource centers in the industry. DARC specializes in tactical, technical, and strategic training aimed toward military and law enforcement agencies.
On a Saturday morning during September’s LECTC-1 course, Logan was role-playing as a highly motivated, opposing force in which a group of officers needed to hunt down and prosecute. At one point during this engagement, Logan pulled out and prepared an impact-detonated diversionary device. Before he had the chance to throw it, the device was accidentally bumped into a wall and detonated in his hand. Causing severe bone, nerve, and tissue damage to his hand. Luckily, the officers on the scene were well equipped and even more experienced to handle the problem quickly and carefully. Logan was bandaged up and at the nearest hospital in 15 minutes.
The doctors gave us a best and worst case scenario based off the initial damage; worst case was he would lose his whole hand, and best case was that he would keep his thumb and index finger. Thankfully, by the grace of God and the steady hand of his surgeon; Logan was able to keep his index finger and thumb. The entirety of his hospital visit he was cracking jokes and was constantly in good spirits, some say it was the drugs but really it was just Logan’s natural, positive personality. During the initial surgery there were pins placed in his hand to aid in proper healing, after about 2 months, he was able to get those pins removed and move onto physical therapy. Over the last 5 months he has made leaps and bounds in recovery and has never failed to stay positive through the whole process. Since the accident he still hasn’t missed a class and is starting to get back into the OpFor swing of things.
All the proceeds will go towards medical expenses, physical therapy equipment, and any left-over donations will go towards funding a possible prosthetic. Any and all donations are greatly appreciated! Thank you all for your support!
