Support for Logan and Family Through Brain Surgery Recovery
Donation protected
Today, 14-year-old Logan Hoeg is in the incredible care of the IWK Children's Hospital, undergoing a complex and delicate 12-hour brain surgery. This fundraiser is to support Logan’s medical expenses, his hospital stay, and the many needs his family will face during this difficult time.
This is a call for support from Cumberland County and beyond—for a family who has always given so much and asked for so little.
Logan is the youngest in a tight-knit, loving family. His mother, Kelly, is a nurturing early childhood educator at our local YMCA who has been an inspiration to many little ones in our community. His father, Dana, is a longtime and dedicated employee at Weston’s. He shares a special bond with his 16-year-old brother, Hunter. Logan is a dedicated caregiver for the family’s pets and farm animals, and can't wait to get back on his dirtbike, tearing up his mother's front lawn again. With family roots stretching from Joggins to Amherst, their presence in the community and circle of friends is strong and heartfelt.
A few years ago, Logan began experiencing troubling medical symptoms. After testing, doctors discovered a brain bleed near the base of his spinal cord, a condition that required ongoing monitoring due to the risk of future complications. Logan even underwent eye surgery to repair damage caused by the initial event.
Recently, Logan suffered a stroke-like episode, which resulted in the loss of function on the left side of his body. But in true Logan fashion, his spirit and determination haven’t wavered. Through sheer will and resilience, he has worked hard to regain strength, coordination, and the ability to walk again.
Now, doctors are moving forward with brain surgery to remove the source of the bleed, repair nerve damage, and give Logan the best chance at a healthy future. Following this operation, Logan will need time to heal in hospital, and will require physical and cognitive rehabilitation to recover fully.
This journey is overwhelming—emotionally, physically, and financially. This humble, giving family needs our help more than ever. If you are able, please consider donating to help relieve some of the financial stress so the family can focus entirely on Logan’s recovery. No kindness is too small. Food, gift cards, and other donations are also deeply appreciated and can be collected locally.
Let’s come together to lift this family up—just as they’ve lifted others time and time again. Thank you from the bottom of our hearts.
