Logan's Battle With Cancer
Donation protected
During Spring Break Logan Sloan, a Grade 9 student at Heritage Christian School in Kelowna, was brought to the doctor with a sore arm. The doctor ordered an x-ray and an ultrasound and the results showed Logan had a tumor on his left upper arm. Following this, the doctor got BC Children's Hospital involved. Logan and his Dad spent two weeks in Vancouver with testing, and visiting specialists. A biopsy showed the tumor to be a Ewing sarcoma tumor, which is a type of bone cancer. The oncologist shared the PET scan results and it showed two microscopic sized cancerous spots on his lungs. So unfortunately the cancer has spread beyond his arm. He will be staying in Vancouver for three months, and on and off for the next year. He will need reconstructive arm surgery following the three months of chemotherapy to remove the tumor. Logan and his Dad are currently in Vancouver with chemotherapy treatments starting this week. Then they will move to the Ronald McDonald House. Logan's Mom and sister are remaining in Kelowna working full-time and continuing to go to school. They will come up on weekends when they can.
Logan's Dad will not be working as he will be looking after Logan in Vancouver. As a family, they are trying to prepare for being separated, the extra trips between Kelowna and Vancouver to be together as often as possible, the reduced income, the housing costs, the extra medical expenses (not all are covered), and extra meal expenses while in Vancouver.
We would love to show them our support as they walk through this chapter of their lives. Please pray for Logan and his family. They are grateful to belong to a family of believers, and know the power of prayer! Please also consider donating- any amount- large or small- is appreciated! A meal roster has also been set up for the family in Kelowna.
