Our dear friends Liz and Ryder welcomed their gorgeous daughter Nova into the world on October 4th. While everyone is doing well and is home now, it has been a challenging first month for them as a family.
Soon after giving birth, Liz fell seriously ill and spent days too fatigued and in pain to even walk or carry Nova. She was ultimately hospitalized for nearly a week while doctors struggled to diagnose and treat her. Though they have not yet been able to identify the underlying illness, she is doing much better and is home now regaining her health day by day.
Just days after Liz was discharged from the hospital, Nova was taken to the ER with an infection and spent six days in the hospital while her parents took shifts to stay by her side day and night. The infection is nearly gone and she's currently finishing her course of antibiotics at home. She was an absolute champ throughout, and Ryder and Liz report that she barely cried and has maintained her happy chill demeanor through her eventful first month in the world.
In addition to being an exhausting and stressful first month as a family, 16 days in the hospital and countless trips to specialists have proven very expensive. Let's help make life a little easier for Liz and Ryder so they can focus on spending time with Nova rather than worrying about medical bills. Any amount helps and is so deeply appreciated!
