Support for Ibraheem’s Donor Non Medical Expenses
Donation protected
My son, Ibraheem, was diagnosed with a dysplastic kidney when he was only two years old. Doctors explained the possible limitations he would encounter growing up. It was the normalcy of information doctors would share when making an initial diagnosis. Ibraheem was blessed to be able to live out a full youthful life. He grew to be a young man of faith, good character and integrity. He was a very athletic child but grew to love the game of football. During the summer of 2017, he decided to attend the College of Redwoods in Eureka, California to play football and pursue a degree in Information Technology. He was destined to be a student-athlete at the College of Redwoods and we both are forever grateful for the many experiences and opportunities Redwoods has afforded him and his future.
During a routine nephrologist checkup this past summer, we received news that shattered our world. Ibraheem had entered stage 4 of Chronic kidney disease and was moving into stage 5. He was in dire need of a kidney transplant. Thankfully, Georgetown University Medical Transplant team expedited all appointments and testing and he was approved to be on the waiting list for a donor. A mother will move mountains for her children. I began my sole mission to find a donor for my son. I would give him my last breath, but, I was unable to give my son a kidney. We decided to launch a social media campaign to share our story and request a donor to help my 20-year-old son. Our efforts were fruitful because our relief came along, Tiffany Loveland our SHERO.
For the past 8 months, I have witnessed and shared the battle of my son’s deteriorating physical health, energy and weight loss. Tiffany watched my video and read the letter from her son’s Twitter account and contacted me right away to say she wanted to help. I was astonished and humbled beyond words. She is the mother of one of his teammates from the College of Redwoods. Tiffany and her son Zach wanted to selflessly help to cure my feelings of anguish and give Ibraheem a fighting chance for a full life he has enjoyed. She has been officially approved by the transplant team to donate her right kidney, and for this I am eternally grateful. We are thankful and truly blessed to have this burden lifted. Tiffany has gone beyond kindness. She is the epitome of humanity and what the world truly needs. I want to ensure that she, as a single mother, has complete financial relief of all non-medical expenses related to Ibraheem’s upcoming surgery.
Tiffany will travel from Las Vegas to the District of Columbia with the support of a family member. She is not entitled to receive living donor funding because my income exceeds the income guidelines. Eligibility determinations for funding from the Living Donor Center are based on the recipients income (as a student, Ibraheem is covered by my insurance and income).
We are asking for donations to support the following:
Roundtrip travel for two, lodging expenses for fourteen days at an Extended Stay, local transportation, and recoup of six weeks of PTO (which has to be used while out for surgery) compensation from her employer.
I want to help ensure there is no financial strain on Tiffany. I ask that we all can give from our heart; the way she is giving from hers. Thank you in advance for any donations provided to offer relief with these upcoming expenses. Wishing you the best of health from our family to yours.
