Support for Lisa & Shawn: Help with Carrick’s Cancer Battle

I’m reaching out on behalf of my cousin Lisa and her family, who are facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Their 12 year old son, Carrick, has been diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma, stage III.

On January 4, Lisa and Shawn noticed that the right side of Carrick’s neck was swollen and lumpy. After an ultrasound and multiple blood samples, they were referred to the Halifax Children’s Hospital for further testing. Sadly, a CT scan and biopsy confirmed the diagnosis of Hodgkin’s lymphoma located in his neck and spleen. Additionally, his blood work has shown a potential blood disorder that is still being investigated.

As you can imagine, Lisa and Shawn are understandably devastated. They are doing their best to stay strong and hopeful, with their main priority being to stay by Carrick’s side. Due to the extensive appointments, treatments, and homeschooling, they will be down to one income during this challenging time.

The financial burden of being down to one income, travel costs to Moncton and to Halifax for treatments for a minimum of 6 months, weekly blood work, medications, and everyday expenses are quickly becoming overwhelming.
