Support for Lisa Gallman Elkins' Recovery

Hello all. I am Warren Gallman, Lisa Gallman Elkins (Mrs. Elkins) son. For those of you who know her, you know it is to love her. It is with great regret that I have to ask you for your support. Born and raised in Newberry, SC, she has become very loved in her community. She currently works at Newberry Elementary as a STEM teacher who loves her students dearly as her own.

Unfortunately, she suddenly fell ill into a critical state from an unforeseen heart condition. In addition, she suffered a major stroke and is requiring emergency surgery. As the fighter she has always been, she is currently in ICU at Prisma in Richland, trying to remain stable. Those who know her and her family know that requesting financial support goes against everything we set out to do, as we try to give back to the community.

Sadly, we have witnessed a similar situation before and understand the cost of traveling, bed and stay, and food cost for these procedures. She is required to be transported to Duke University Hospital, as her surgery requires specialists and special equipment that are not available where she currently is located. She will also require rehabilitation and life changing alterations to her home and lifestyle. Our family is prepared as we can be to exhaust our personal funds along with insurance support, but we do understand we may have to solicit the support of the community.

It goes against my principles and hers as well, to ask for assistance, but given the situation and time frame; and a healthy discussion with close family members, my back is against the wall. Please donate if you can, but at the very least send a heartfelt prayer up for my mother. She is not going to like this when she is responsive, however I am doing what I think is best to help my mother at all cost. Thank you all... Love you all.
