Support for Linus Lewis and family

Donation protected
This is my husband, Linus Lewis. Thursday evening, January 24, 2019, he was involved in a horrific accident. Due to financial difficulties, and bills piling up (as we can all relate to in the middle of Maine winters), we had decided to sell some possessions to meet those obligations. One thing we had enough of, and never used, were the guns that we had collected over time of our own and from family and friends. These had stayed put away for years and were all supposed to be unloaded when we received them. We have young children and kept all ammo separate. On this evening, we were getting ready to have someone come look and see about purchasing. As he was in the barn gathering them up,one of the triggers was hit. This gun was not unloaded. We had no clue as we had put them away as they were given to us with the validation from the giver that they had sat for years untouched and unloaded.

With that said, there was a massive amount of damage done to his face. He was immediately put into an induced coma. Somehow this did not hit his skull or brain. However, the extensive injuries to his face have cause major damage to the whole left side and more than likely a loss of vision in his left eye. At this time, we are waiting to hear word of his transport to Mass General in Boston. He is currently at Maine Med in Portland, Maine.

Our family is still in debt to bills and mortgage as he was the primary source of income. We have 3 kids. 21, 14, and 11. There will be massive bills on top of all of this. We had Mainecare but due to the shutdown and backlogs of cases, the last recert has not gone through. Although this can be remedied, there is still the amount that will be needed to sustain myself and the kids with food, bills, travel and gas expenses. This is the point of this GoFundMe. To help as much as possible to take some pressure off of our family. Linus has his own business that he and I operated. This was our only income. Without him, I cannot maintain the business myself.  Plus, I will be meeting the needs of our kids, and trying to get to him as much as possible. Boston is not close.

Because of this we have set a goal amount of, or near to, $50,000.00.  Although, this may seem a great amount, our family is looking at long term medical needs. Surgeries, rehab, etc. We do not know if Life Flight to Boston is covered at this time. If not, that cost could be half of what the goal is. Over the course of just 6 months, overall costs of living and medical  will be near or close to this and then some.

Whatever you can donate big or small is fine, if not then prayers and thoughts are just as much appreciated. In fact, Linus has requested prayers himself...

“I don’t know what this is just pray”…these  words are from Linus as he wrote it in the hospital.

This was a horrible and tragic accident. Our family needs help. We can only do so much on our end. He is a hard worker who may not be able to go to work for a very long time. And will be limited to what he can do when he does.

Thank you for helping if you can and for all of your support.
