Support for Lindsey's Brain Tumor Surgery

Hi! My name is Mel Mitchell, and I am organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my friend and co-worker, Lindsey Jones.

Lindsey is an amazingly kind, funny, and generous person who deeply loves her family, friends, and community. On August 21, 2021, Lindsey said I do to the love of her life, Jason. Sadly, just a month later, she would get news that changed her and Jason's life overnight. Over the past year, Lindsey has struggled with horrible migraines, unexplained facial pain, and numerous trips to the dentist and neurologist to try and find relief. When several different medications and dental procedures did not relieve her symptoms, she finally convinced her doctor to order an MRI for her. The MRI results showed a large tumor at the base of her skull, causing her brain to sag and push down on her spine. Unfortunately, due to its location, her surgeons will most likely not have the ability to remove all of it. Once most of the tumor is removed, her doctor will send it off for biopsy. Currently, Lindsey's doctor believes it is a meningioma tumor that is typically benign. There is a possibility that she will need to do radiation after her procedure, depending on how much they can remove and what type of tumor it is.

Her surgery date is temporarily set for April 7th or 8th. Her delicate procedure requires not one but three neurosurgeons to operate on her brain. Presently, she is waiting to confirm that they are all available for one of those days.

Lindsey will spend at least a week in the hospital and, at a minimum, two months at home recovering. Coupled with an $8,500 deductable and her inability to work during recovery, Lindsey needs our help more than ever. Lindsey is a fiercely independent woman and felt uncomfortable asking for donations, but knowing how challenging the next few months will be, I wanted to help somehow. As her friend, this is a way I felt I could take some of the stress off her while her focus is on the recovery process.
