Dana has been a pillar of our Solana Beach neighborhood since the 1960s. She grew up here, watching the area transform from dirt roads and horses to the vibrant community it is today. For decades, Dana devoted her life to caring for her beloved mother, Sandra “Gypsy” Willis, who recently passed away at the age of 94. Dana gave up her personal life and career to move back into her childhood home, ensuring her mom was surrounded by love and comfort until her final days.
Dana’s kindness and patience are unmatched. She spent every day and night with her mom, pushing her outside in her wheelchair to watch the sunset, sharing funny stories, and always putting her mom’s happiness first. Even when friends brought gifts or flowers, Dana would make sure they went to her mom. Her selflessness extended beyond her family—she’s the neighbor who looks out for everyone, always ready with a helping hand or a kind word.
Now, Dana is facing an uncertain future. With no job or income after years of caregiving, she is at risk of losing the only home she’s ever known. The house is in debt to the bank, and without help, Dana will have to leave the neighborhood she’s called home for over sixty years. Your support can help Dana stay in her home and continue being the heart of our community. If you can contribute, it would mean the world to Dana and to all of us who care about her.
