Hi, my name is Fela, and I’m creating this fundraiser for my parents, Linda and Kenny Olutayo , after a house fire severely damaged our family home.

On the morning of January 14, 2026, around 9:00 a.m. a fire broke out in their home in Dolton, Illinois. While one room sustained the most severe fire damage, smoke and soot spread throughout the house, rendering it **unlivable** and causing the loss of most of their belongings.

This was the home where I grew up—where our family gathered, celebrated holidays, and built a lifetime of memories. In a matter of hours, everything changed. My parents, along with other family members who were staying there, are now displaced and facing the difficult reality of starting over.

Although we are incredibly grateful that everyone made it out safely, the emotional and financial impact has been overwhelming. Years of hard work, sacrifice, and love went into building that home. I had also been storing some personal belongings there, including items tied to my childhood, but what hurts the most is seeing how much my parents and family lost after years of effort poured into that house.

Right now, my parents are facing:

* Temporary housing and living expenses

* Replacing clothing, furniture, and essential household items lost to fire and smoke damage

* Ongoing recovery and repair costs before the home can be lived in again

Insurance has not fully covered the extent of the loss or the immediate costs associated with displacement and replacing essentials.
