Support for Lincoln's Rare Genetic Battle

Hi, my name is Christen. I am currently 37 weeks pregnant with our little boy Lincoln. We decided to have the genetic bloodwork done for the simple fact that we were too impatient to wait for our 20 week anatomy scan to find out the gender of our little blessing. We had no reason to believe the genetic test would show any abnormalities but of course it’s always a worry everyone has in the back of there mind when they find out they are expecting. Unfortunately that was not the case for us. The genetic results showed an abnormality within the sex chromosomes. We didn’t think much of it at the time because I had never heard of such a thing so I thought maybe something happened with our sample. We were asked to meet with a genetic specialist and set up to do our anatomy scan early at 15 weeks. This is when I knew that this might be a little more serious than I thought. It was at this appointment that the doctors noticed an abnormality with Lincoln’s heart. Due to the abnormalities found it was suggested to proceed with and amniocentesis to give us a more accurate reading on genetics. The results only verified what was suspected. Lincoln has a genetic disorder called Monosomy X, which is typically only found in females so this makes his case a little more rare. On top of the genetic disorder, he also has a rare genetic heart condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. With the combination of both conditions Lincoln is growing at a very slow rate and has been given a 10% chance of survival. We are trying everything possible to keep him in the womb as long as possible but we have already been sent to OB triage once with the anticipation of an early delivery.
