My son Liam is 20 years old and recently suffered a life-changing accident. While trying to take apart a firearm, he didn’t realize there was still a round in the chamber and accidentally shot himself in the thigh, hitting a main artery. He was flown by helicopter to the hospital, and while he’s doing better today, he has a long and difficult road to recovery ahead.

Liam is truly the life of the party—if you know him, you know how much joy and energy he brings to everyone around him. He’s been working hard to get his life back on track after hitting a rough patch, and this accident has been a huge setback for him and our family. The medical bills are already overwhelming, and the costs keep adding up with every day he spends in the hospital. I have missed a week of work. We’re facing expenses for his emergency care, helicopter transport, and the many surgeries and follow-up appointments he’ll need for years to come. On top of that, I’ve had to put off paying some of our regular bills just to be by his side, and the cost of gas and parking for hospital visits is more than I ever expected.
