On August 28, 2025, tragedy struck when my brother-in-law and niece were hit by a car while riding their e-bike. Both were critically injured—my niece had to be life-flighted to the hospital, and my brother-in-law was transported by ambulance. They each underwent emergency surgeries and are now facing long, difficult recoveries.

This has been a heartbreaking and traumatic experience for their entire family. The stress of navigating this tragic event has been overwhelming on its own—but paired with the need for my sister to step away from work for the unforeseeable future to provide 24/7 intensive care at home, the weight is immense. My sister is not only caring for her injured husband and daughter, but she’s also supporting their older daughter through this challenging time.
