Hello,

My name is Abigail Porter and I recently read in the Lewiston Sun Journal about a homeless couple in who are living in their car near Burger King and Popeyes. They have lost their apartment and recently their car was backed into. They are relying on their car heater to stay warm and need money to buy car insurance, gas and potentially fix their car. As I am a Social Worker, I plan to meet and make referrals to various agencies as appropriate to their needs if they agree . I am not their official worker but was touched by their story and that the workers at both Popeyes and Burger King are trying to help them. I already know someone who is going to anonymously give a donation but this is just the start. Obviously, long term goals would be to include housing but we need to keep them warm in the meantime. They also have a dog who needs support too.

I will be sure that funds will accounted for and will use gift cards, pay for services directly.
