Support for Levi’s Kidney Transplant Journey
Donation protected
I have the honor of sharing the beautiful story of Levi Wunderlich and his wonderful family!
Levi is an adventurous, sport-loving little 1st grader that was born with congenital nephrotic syndrome - a progressive kidney disease caused by a gene mutation that eventually results in kidney failure and the need for kidney transplant.
Levi was born with this condition and has been on multiple medications, infusions, and diet changes since he was very young. Sami was initially introduced to Levi as she cared for him as his infusion nurse. When Levi went into foster care Sami, Brian, and their two daughters selflessly opened their hearts and home to care for Levi. They adopted Levi and his older brother, Mason, a few short years later. ❤️
Levi’s kidney disease has progressed rapidly over the past few months and he will now require hemodialysis three times per week for survival until a kidney donor is found. Levi is having his central line placed tomorrow and will undergo his first round of dialysis.
All of his medical care will take place in Omaha at Children’s Hospital and UNMC. In addition, Levi will be required to stay in Omaha 4-6 weeks after he receives his transplant. As you can imagine, driving multiple times per week to Omaha, missing work, etc. this is going be quite the financial burden for this wonderful family.
We are asking for prayers for Levi and his family through this difficult time. If you would like to donate to help ease their financial burden please feel free to do so here or Venmo @Samiwunderlich. If you would like to consider becoming a living donor, please visit www.nebraskamed.com/transplant/kidney.
Thank you and God bless!
