On January 28, 2025, we lost our mom, Leticia Diaz De Leon. In early July we found out what we thought was simply an ulcer, was actually stage 4 stomach cancer. She soon after started chemotherapy. But the cancer was spreading. It had spread to her lymph nodes. In October she was able to get radiation therapy to kill the cancer cells in her lymph nodes, which was successful. She was going through both chemotherapy and radiotherapy. She was hospitalized a few times throughout last year. We found out the first few rounds of chemotherapy weren’t helping. So they decided to take a different route in chemotherapy. That was also short lived. In December, they informed us that the chemotherapy was only making things worse. We were told that hospice would be our best option. That at most she had 6 months to live. We started at home hospice care in January. Things sadly took a turn around January 21st. She started declining rapidly, when things had been looking up. We lost her within the week. January 28th around 2am.
