Support for Lethbridge Soup Kitchen

The Lethbridge Soup Kitchen is facing hard times as many of us are since the pandemic. However, there is a concern about the soup kitchen shutting its doors because of the many grants and funding cutbacks that have put a major financial drain for this charity as well as others. I am starting this gofundme to assist in the needed awareness for financial assistance for the soup kitchen to continue their much-needed services for our homeless. Many avenues have been sought after by Bill Ginther to find the continued support to keep the kitchen up and running. Even though many kind-hearted individuals and businesses have donated, unfortunately, it won't be enough for the soup kitchen to continue on for this coming December and the new year. A donor has promised to match every dollar donated up to a maximum of $10, 000 which will help the soup kitchen continue its services until Dec 31st, 2021. We are asking for the support of our community to help keep our services going and gain the matching donation. Even the little amounts mean a lot and anything donated is much appreciated.

The Lethbridge Soup Kitchen has been operating since 1984 to serve those in need. It all came about with the caring community coming together and starting to serve those in need with a light lunch, which was quickly noticed the hunger was real. This then expanded just to almost 2 years ago to serve a balanced and nutritious breakfast, lunch and dinner. The need to feed has shown that the soup kitchen is serving 6500-7000 meals per month serving upwards of 150 people each day. With the colder months, these numbers are drastically increasing. The Soup Kitchen doesn't just serve meals but also is a place of refuge for our homeless to go to seek a meal and warmth as locations are limited.
Operating costs are approximately $20,000/ month which covers a small number of staff salaries, utility bills, etc, and anyone who wishes to see their operating costs are more than welcome to request this at any time.
There is a growing concern for the consequences that may happen if the soup kitchen has to close its doors. Moreover, there are plans coming into place to seek funding commitments to ensure the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen can keep operating and serving the many in need.
If you can spare any amount at all, you will be helping in making difference.

Thank you
