Hello,
My name is Martha Carpenter. I am one of Max's aunts.
Many of you already have heard the tragic news of Max's passing this past Tuesday June 25th of cancer.
For the past 8 months Max has been battling lung and liver cancer. They began aggressively treating the cancer as soon as Max was diagnosed. Leslie and Jimmy have been Max's support system through this challenging time.
Like most parents would do, they put their lives on hold to care for their son. Taking him to his chemo and other doctor appointments, and to nurse him after. They've been his cheerleaders to keep his spirits up, and have encouraged Max to keep fighting when he would become discouraged. When Max would show progress they were there to celebrate those milestones with him.
Over the last few weeks, Leslie and Jimmy were by his bedside constantly. they were there advocating for Max to ensure that his health care decisions were honored.
As a parent myself, it's impossible for me to imagine that I would have to one day hold one of my children while they faced death the way Leslie and Jimmy have had to do.
It's impossible for most parents to think that within a few short months a funeral and other practical arrangements would have to be made for their child. How to pay for those arrangements is definitely not on most parents radar.
However, this is exactly what Leslie and Jimmy have had to face.
Leslie and Jimmy are two people who go out of their way to help people in need whenever they are able to, yet they almost never ask for help for themselves, even now during the most challenging time of their lives.
I am now advocating for my brother and sister-in-law. This is not only a challenging time for them emotionally but financially. I am asking for friends, family, neighbors and anyone else who feels compelled, to bless these two with your prayers, your love, your support and if you feel moved to, a monetary gift to help them ease the burden of the expenses that they have during this difficult time.
I thank you all for the time it took to read this message and for the love you have shown to my brother and sister-in-law and most of all to my sweet nephew Max.
Rest in peace Max, you will be cherished, missed and loved forever.
