Support for Leland in his cancer battle

Hi, my name is Marcus White. Leland DePriest is my cousin, best man and the best guy I know. Leland was recently diagnosed at only 36 with not 1 but 2 different types of cancer including Multiple Myeloma. Multiple Myeloma is an incurable, aggressive cancer of the plasma cells that impacts your bones, immune system, kidneys, and red blood cell count. Leland went from working multiple jobs to being in a hospital bed in a matter of weeks.

We are very hopeful now that he is under the care of MCV and receiving proper treatment, but he has a long and difficult journey ahead of him. He is currently unable to work as he is hospitalized undergoing chemo and radiation, and will then transfer to a rehab facility to work on regaining some of his mobility. His positive attitude and sense of humor remain in tact, despite immense pain and stress. Although there is no cure for this disease, we remain positive and our goal is to alleviate some of the financial stress as he focuses on his recovery. There are already mounting hospital & household bills and we anticipate that this will continue for the foreseeable future.

I am incredibly proud of the man Leland has become and to call him my brother as he is to so many. He stepped up to care for his mother Ruby after my mother Cheryl passed away of cancer in 2020, & he is an incredible father to Leo. He is the first to help out others and not deserving of this---man cancer sucks. If you can find it in your heart to donate, you will not find a kinder and more deserving person.
