***UPDATE*** A TRANSPLANT DATE HAS BEEN SET FOR JULY 30, 2021!!!
Leah’s kidney problems started a long time ago when she was diagnosed with rhabdomyosarcoma-stage 4, at the age of 11 in 2001. The chemotherapy and radiation caused damage to her bladder, kidneys and uterus as well as multiple urinary tract infections. She then relapsed at the age of 14 and had more chemotherapy to that same area. Although it was years later, Leah still experiences infections and trauma to her kidneys. Four years ago, she had her first kidney infection and stones with a stent placement. Within the year Leah was diagnosed with CKD (Chronic Kidney Disease) and had a surgery to reconstruct her right ureter and kidney. This surgery along with other infections pushed her into End Stage Renal Failure. Finding out she needed a kidney transplant was devastating news but thanks to the kindness of her family, her father is a willing donor and a perfect match! Unfortunately, her kidneys have progressed to absolute failure and Leah is now on temporary dialysis which hinders her from working as much as she was used to and would like to. This has also taken a toll on her family mentally as well as financially. Her generous father helps her out financially when it is needed, but he is also going to be having the surgery as well so Leah will need all the help she can get! Please consider donating to help Leah relieve some of the burden on her journey through dialysis, transplant and recovery. Leah is the kindest, sweetest person I’ve ever had the pleasure of meeting and I am so glad I get to call her one of my best friends. She deserves the best and to live a long, healthy life. Any amount is appreciated!! Thank you!!
