Support for Laura's Recovery
Donation protected
On December 7th, 2023, our Ama, Laura Mano, 67, suffered from a Ischemic Stroke while attending her sister's funeral. We rushed her to Maui Memorial Emergency Room where they did several MRI's and CAT scans. We were later informed that she had two blood clots; one in her neck and one in her brain. It was too late to perform a surgical thrombectomy but she was given blood thinner medication to help breakup the blood clots.
The affects of her stroke have caused:
- paralysis to the left side of her body
- confusion and slurred speech
- dizziness and headaches
- sensitivity to both eyes
On December 11th, 2023, our Ama was transported to Hale Makua Health Services where she started intensive physical, occupational and speech therapy. In the past few days, she had some setbacks due to her headaches.
Her husband, Matthew Mano, will remain on Maui during her recovery while her children travel back and forth to help care for both of their parents. And, her grandchildren and great grands travel to see her as well.
Our grandparents are both retired with minimal benefits. Our goal is to help relieve some of the financial burdens we will encounter during her long road to recovery. Your contribution will help some of the unexpected costs, such as:
- Medical bills
- Hale Makua Housing
- Therapy
- Housing cost (for husband while on Maui)
- Future equipment (wheelchair, ADA needs, etc.)
There is always one person in every family who is the glue that holds it together. Our Ama is our glue. She is the most kindest, loving and caring person you will ever meet. She gives selflessly to her husband, 5 children, 17 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. She is determined to fight and get better. Anything contributed will be very much appreciated from our family.
With all our love and appreciation,
The grandchildren of Laura Mano. <3
