Help us lay our Dad to rest
Donation protected
This is my dad , Mark. If you grew up in any capacity around us, he was also your dad. He fed us, told us stories about his time in the Navy and worldly travels, and he would give advice filled with love and the best intentions. Recently he got sick, he couldn’t work and we were all rightfully worried.
My dad was diagnosed with cancer back in March, by the time we found it things were already looking very bad. He never made it to his first treatment, he had two strokes and within a week of telling our loved ones he was sick he passed away. We didn’t get the chance to talk to him about it , he was too sick and by the time we saw him yesterday he was no longer able to communicate.
He left this work around 12;20 am in May 12 th, Mother’s Day.
With his health history he wasn’t insurable with life insurance and the VA only covers a place in the ground to bury him, it does not cover his cremation.
with that being said my mom has not been working and needs time to Grieve while also helping my youngest brother navigate this new normal. We are doing this to help pay for the cremation which is about $1500 plus fees for a total of about $1880. Anything additional will go to help her pay rent and bills.
I know my moms rent is $900 a month and I would like to get her at least two months for emergencies and time.
My dad held out to make sure everyone of his kids and grandchildren got to see him. He passed with my mom by his side , we joined her shortly after to make sure she got home and my dad was prepped to be picked up. Losing a parent is part of life , but losing them like this has been extremely difficult to process and it will be some time as we learn our new normal.
