Dear Friends,

I am reaching out today on behalf of our dear friend Lani Smith, a loving mother of 5 (2 of her own and 3 that she treats like her own) who has been battling acute Leukemia. I am the mother of 2 of the above-mentioned kids and have gotten to know Lani through my children and am beyond grateful she is in their lives. I am launching this GoFundMe campaign to rally support and raise funds to help ease the financial burden associated with her treatment and care.

In 2019 Lani was diagnosed with breast cancer, she went through several rounds of chemotherapy and a double mastectomy. After 1 year of treatments, she was in the clear!! However, in January of 2023 Lani received the devastating news that she had acute Leukemia. The amazing Doctors at RUH suspect that it was from her first round of chemotherapy from 2019. Lani has undergone many treatments since January (and many more to come).. Chemotherapy, blood transfusions as well as a stem cell transplant. Finding a match for bone marrow proved to be stressful, but in May 2023 her amazing and brave daughter Olivia went through the procedure to donate her bone marrow to her mom as she was a 50% match. Lani has been in the hospital more often than not since January. She is ready to come home. Shaun has signed to be her full-time caregiver and has been off of work since January. The cost of medication (not fully covered) is over $7,000 per month is an added stress.

In order to allow Lani to concentrate on healing, she needs your support during this difficult time. She is one of those rare souls... with her positive energy and selfless nature.
